History of DOC
In 2005 University of Latvia SPIE student chapter organized a conference called Development in Optics and Photonics 2005 (or DOP for short) which was predecessor of DOC. About 40 participants took part in DOP representing Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine, Romania, Belarus and USA. Dr. Katarina Svanberg was invited as keynote speaker.
In 2006 OSA Latvian student chapter joined the organization team and the conference was renamed to Developments in Optics and Communications. Dr. Aigars Ekers and Dr. Maris Ozolinsh were key speakers, also a lecture on Commercialization of Inventions by invited speaker E. Baltinsh was given. Conference abstract book can be downloaded here.
In 2007 Prof. Harold J. Metcalf was key speaker for the conference. In 2008 well established traditions were continued, Prof. Richard W. Peterson and Dr. Janis Alnis were key speakers.
